The recent fire yesterday, May 9, 2012, which killed 17 people in Butuan City was a tragic one. It also reminded me of my personal experiences when I was still a young boy in that city. My family lived there for about 4 years when I was still a young boy sometime in 1964-1967. And during those times, we experienced several fires that happened in Butuan City. Whether it was accidental or arson intentionally started by criminal elements, I do not know. But it was a frequent occurrence during those years.

It is interesting that this recent fire happened at Montilla Boulevard also, the same street where we used to live ]]> lenj@lenjoson.com (Len Joson) frontpage Thu, 10 May 2012 12:18:31 +0000 Hope in the Midst of Sickness http://lenjoson.com/articles-list/351-hope-in-the-midst-of-sickness.html http://lenjoson.com/articles-list/351-hope-in-the-midst-of-sickness.html

blood extractionI'm just glad the Lord has given me understanding about what sickness is all about. Sickness is just one of those trials that can befall any one of us. God did not plan for us to live forever in our physical bodies. Rather, God has planned for all of us to participate in the love relationship that is being eternally enjoyed by the Father, Son and Spirit. And what is even more encouraging is that God through our Lord Jesus has already done everything that is needed to be done for all of us to be saved. Our salvation is guaranteed. There's nothing to worry about. This gives us hope and encouragement as we go through life and especially when we get sick.

angkor watOne of the most exciting vacation that my family and I had was when we had the opportunity to visit Cambodia in December 2007. It never occurred to me that I would be able to set foot in Cambodia. But it was truly a blessing that was so unexpected. My sister who was then living in Phnom Penh invited us to visit them. What an opportunity!

We visited several tourist spots but the highlight of our vacation was our visit to the world-famous ]]> lenj@lenjoson.com (Len Joson) frontpage Mon, 23 Jan 2012 11:38:25 +0000 It's Not About Your Faith but the Faith of Christ http://lenjoson.com/articles-list/338-its-not-about-your-faith-but-the-faith-of-christ.html http://lenjoson.com/articles-list/338-its-not-about-your-faith-but-the-faith-of-christ.html {mp4remote}http://blip.tv/file/get/Arkalos-ThickIce489.m4v{/mp4remote}

I really like the illustration given by Dr. Elmer Colyer on "the quality of the ice" (check the video) in an interview hosted by Dr. Mike Feazell. He explained that it's really not the quality of our faith that matters but the quality of the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ. Some people have faith in their faith instead of trusting in the faith of Christ. They think that their strong faith is what will help them make it to God's Kingdom. The truth of the matter is, ]]> lenj@lenjoson.com (Len Joson) frontpage Thu, 19 Jan 2012 05:39:37 +0000 Their "Eternity" Depends On Us? http://lenjoson.com/articles-list/330-their-qeternityq-depends-on-us.html http://lenjoson.com/articles-list/330-their-qeternityq-depends-on-us.html

I just heard a short video urging Christians to reach out and share the gospel to people whom you may not particularly like. The intention was good but there's one comment by the video narrator that caught my attention when he said, "Their eternity depends on us." I've heard that comment many, many times before and it's being taught by many pastors and missionary leaders in the Christian community.

Belief of Some Christians

That statement is I believe the belief of so many Christian denominations and missions organizations that I know of and this is what drives them to go and preach the gospel because they believe the unbeliever's "eternity" depends on them.
