Microsoft Outlook
I've been using Microsoft Outlook for my emails since about the year 2000 and I never had any problem with my file being corrupted or destroyed. Outlook only has one file with a pst file extension for all the incoming and outgoing emails and if you've accumulated a lot of data over the years, it would be a great disaster if something happens to that one big file.
It Suddenly Happened
And you know what, just the other day it happened, without warning, my Outlook went crazy. As I was sending an important email, the whole screen went erratic without letup for quite a long while. I tried to force it to stop but couldn't. After a long while I was forced to just shut down my laptop by force.
Scanpst.exe
When I restarted and re-opened my Outlook, a notice told me that my Outlook file has been corrupted and that I should look for scanpst.exe to repair it. Well I couldn't find the file in my computer so I Google searched. There were plenty of help and one of those I tried was quite annoying. Just when my Outlook file was about to be fixed, this free repair program stopped and said that I should buy their program first and ughhh! So annoying. What a way to do business. And I thought it was free.
Hidden file
After some more searching, I finally found the solution. The file scanpst.exe is actually in my computer but it's a hidden file. And it's not easy to find it! It is so hidden. You have to change the settings first in the folder options to "show hidden files" before it will appear.
Anyway, I was able to finally repair my Outlook and I'm a happy man once again! I'm hoping it won't happen again.
